During the summer of 2019, I was given the incredible opportunity to intern with Urban Outfitters, Inc. headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. While there, I worked with the search engine optimization (SEO) team for shared services. I was extremely lucky to be placed with this specific team. Working in shared services allowed me to work with all URBN’s brands (Urban Outfitters, Free People, Anthropologie, BHLDN, Nuuly, and Terrain) to help support them with their SEO needs. Additionally, my team treated entrusted me with a wide range of responsibilities which allowed me to learn so much.




MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES
Some of my contributions include:

Wrote SEO recommendation reports for all new pages to the brands’ sites on suggested metadata, page assets, and linking. Analyzed user data and industry trends to guide suggestions.

Updated the HTML of numerous pages on various web developers.

Researched ways to bolster each brand’s SEO efforts by creating decks specific for each of the five brands with detailed SEO optimization recommendation based on user data and SEO best practices for the following pages: store location pages, store finder page, 404 error pages, & the promotion page.

Presented landing pages SEO recommendation decks to Nuuly & BHLDN digital heads.

Shadowed team members on the shared services UX research team and BHLDN UX design team to learn first-hand about these positions within the retail industry.

In total, this amazing experience gave me an in-depth knowledge of SEO and working in corporate retail. It was an opportunity that completely changed my life, as I was able to figure out what kind of work I love doing and was surrounded by and learned from some of the most innovative people in the industry.
